90-DAY WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE

“90 Day Weight Loss Challenge” is part one of what will be a year-long program and partnership.  Optimally, competitors will form teams within their respective precinct/bureau, however, competitive groups may collaborate based on participation. Competitors will weigh in every thirty (30) days until the completion of their 90-day cycle. Awards will be presented to winning groups and individual achievement.

DPLSA Tentative Agreement! {0}

Mayor Duggan’s Offer to the DPLSA Membership!

Effective January 1, 2016, 4% pay increase for all Association members.

Amend Article 35(C) of the current CBA (4 hour rule). Members will be allowed to have the option to utilize (1) 4 hour option quarterly if a member suffers illness during his shift without time being removed from the Individuals sick bank.

Effective January 1, 2016, a 2% wage increase for Association Members that hold a Bachelor’s degree or high educational degree.

Effective January 1, 2016, College Tuition reimbursement of up to $2000.00, for Association members that successfully complete higher education courses with the grade of “C” or better.

The city will be contractually obligated to conduct a promotional examination every two (2) years, including a Detective Examination (Detectives Promoted).

A $250.00 referral fee to any Association member that refers an individual that is hired as a police officer for the City of Detroit.

Units that require Association members to be on an “On-Call” status, will be compensated for the status at (1) hours for every 8 hour work day and (3) hours for every off duty day for a maximum of (16) hours weekly.

If the Association extends the current agreement until June 30, 2020, 3.0% wages increase effective July 1, 2019.

2.5% Wages, July 1, 2016

2.5% Wages, July 1, 2017

2.5% Wages, July 1, 2018

3.0% Wages, July 1, 2019

Again the Mayor reiterated this is just the first start and as tax revenue and other funding increase we hope to have further discussion to bring us comparable to all our law enforcement counterparts.

In addition the Mayor stated we will engage in discussions of retiree and better active health care more conducive to the needs of the membership!

Again, before any of the aforementioned items are implemented, it will require a membership ratification vote.

DPLSA Tentative Agreement Reached with the City of Detroit, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 {0}

Tentative Agreement Reached, Wednesday, November 25, 2015!
Let me first of all start by stating after a series of meetings with Mayor Mike Duggan, Chief James E. Craig and others we all clearly agreed and understand that we are all under paid along with the needed to work on improving our current benefit structure for the current members and for retaining membership and new hires!
With that being said the Mayor stated the following proposals are a start in getting us to the comparable wages and benefits of our law enforcement counterparts!
First, Mayor Duggan agreed and signed a letter stating he would assist us in obtaining better active health care conducive to the needs of our profession along with working towards and setting up meetings with health care providers working towards retirement health care.
Effective Friday, January 1, 2016, Members will receive a 4% wage increase with all previous negotiated wage increases intact.
A One Year Contract Extension till June 30, 2020 with a 3% Wage Increase on July 1, 2019.
Standby Time, For the members that are on recall status will receive One hour wages or compensatory time for every Eight hours of being on standby (Pay or Compensatory Option).
Tuition Reimbursement, $2000.00 Yearly towards an Associates, Bachelor’s, Masters, Law or Doctorate Degree (Courses must be obtained through an accredited college or university successfully).
Wage Differential Language, Effective Friday, January 1, 2016, A Member will receive an additional 2% wage supplement for a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
Employee Referral Incentive, A member shall receive $250.00 for every individual hired into a uniformed or position identified by the Director of Police Personnel.
The 4 Hour Sick Day Language, Article 35(c) will be amended to read a member may utilize the option (1) day quarterly without the time being removed from the individuals Sick Bank.

On Saturday, November 21, 2015, the DPLSA sadly learned of the passing of Deborah Firchau, Wife of Sergeant Timothy Firchau, assigned to Homicide. The DPLSA has Tim and his entire family in our hearts, thoughts and prayers and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as well.
Deborah was a beautiful person and she will be missed!
