2020 Employee Benefit Annual Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment Period November 1, 2019 through November 21, 2019
For January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020 plan year
To All City of Detroit Employees:
Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review and make changes to your health care elections.
During the open enrollment period, you can:
· Enroll in or change your current health care elections
· Add or remove eligible dependents
· Renew or enroll in the Opt-out Program, if eligible
· Renew or enroll in flexible spending accounts, if eligible
All employees must enroll in either of two ways:
- Enroll or make benefit changes online at www.mydetroitbenefits.com, available 24-hours a day. If you previously created a password for your account on www.mydetroitbenefits.com, it has been reset to the first four (4) digits of your SSN + the month and day of your birthday in the format MMDD.
- Enroll or make benefit changes by phone at (855) 224-6200, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. EST. Due to the high number of calls received during the open enrollment period, you may be asked to leave a message. A customer service representative will return your call to process your enrollment. Your call will be returned in the order in which it was received. Please be sure to leave your name and a direct dial phone number in your message, otherwise, your call cannot be returned. If you leave a message by 11:59 p.m. on November 21, 2019, your enrollment will still be processed, even if the representative returns your call after November 21st.
Have supporting documentation on hand so you won’t need to log in or call back several times to complete your enrollment. ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION IS DUE BY NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 27, 2019.
ALL employees must log on to the online system (www.mydetroitbenefits.com) or contact customer service at (855) 224-6200 to enroll in/maintain your coverage for the 2019 plan year.
PERSONALIZED ENROLLMENT ASSISTANCE: Open Enrollment sessions provide valuable information on medical, dental, vision, life and Flexible Spending Account benefit offerings. Benefits Administration staff will be onsite to help you complete your enrollment and select from the benefit options that are available to you and your family. Vendors will also be available to answer questions. See the attached schedule.
Note: Managers/Supervisors/Department Heads: Please print and post the attachments for those employees who do not have access to a computer and/or GroupWise.

Open Enrollment Package
An employee open enrollment package has been mailed to your home and emailed to your designated email address. Enclosed in the package is the 2020 City of Detroit Health Care Plan Options booklet and the Open Enrollment Announcement which includes the new contribution amounts that employees will be required to pay effective January 1, 2020. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THIS PACKAGE AT HOME TO MAKE YOUR ELECTIONS.
