PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING’S BASIC RECRUIT CLASS 2016-D ALONG WITH THE AMERICAN RED CROSS PRESENTS A BLOOD DRIVE

On Thursday, September 1, 2016, Basic Recruit Class 2016-D, along with the American Red Cross will present a blood drive, at the Detroit Police Training Center, located at 6050 Linwood.

Come join Basic Recruit Class 2016-D, in their mission to aid local hospitals during the busy Labor Day weekend. Donations will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; we have a target goal of forty-five (45) donors. Please visit www.redcrossblood.org, to set- up an appointment time that is convenient for you.

Listed below is some beneficial information:

• The American Red Cross is the Largest Supplier of Blood to Detroit

Children’s Hospital;

• Red Blood Cells have a shelf life up to forty-two (42) Days;

• Platelets have a shelf life of five (5) Days;

• Plasma has a one (1) year Shelf life, if frozen;

• Every two (2) seconds someone needs Blood;

• More than 41,000, donations are needed every day;

• The average person has 10 -12 pints of blood in the body;

• It takes 8 -10 minutes to donate;

• One pint of blood saves three (3) lives; and

• People with Professional Tattoos can give blood; a Year’s wait is no

longer required.

We are looking forward to your participation, please have a balanced meal on the days leading up to your donation and drink plenty of water.

Please refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages the day prior to donation.
