GOODFELLOWS SALES DAY, DECEMBER 1, 2014

 

The Annual Old Newsboys’Goodfellow Fund of Detroit 100th Newspaper Sales Day is scheduled for Monday, December 1, 2014.

 

The Goodfellow Newspaper Coordinator may pick up supplies and tally bags from Sergeant Eren Stephens, assigned to Police Medical at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters, 1301 Third Avenue, 6th floor – Suite 651, (313) 596 -1941 or mobile (313) 220 – 4656 on the following dates and times:

 

Friday, November 21, 2014, Monday, November 24, 2014, & Tuesday, November 24, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

The Goodfellow Newspaper Coordinators may also pick up the papers from the Detroit Public Safety Headquarters (1301 Third Avenue).  Papers will be secured at the loading dock and in a storage cabinet at the Abbot Street Guard Booth (Telephone Number:  313 -237-6399).  The booth is located between Headquarters and the parking structure.  Security will be available to assist with directions.  The Goodfellow newspapers can be picked up on the following dates and times:

 

Tuesday, November 25, 2014, through Sunday, November 30, 2014, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

Participants selling Goodfellow newspapers on Monday, December 1, 2014, are to deliver the monies to their parent command’s Goodfellow Coordinator by 4:00 p.m.  The officer’s contribution will be counted towards the top seller awards for individuals and for commands.  The overall top sales for a command and individual will receive the Special Recognition Award.

 

All Goodfellow newspaper monies turned in after December 1, 2014, shall be delivered to the Detroit Police Department’s Coordinator, Sergeant Eren Stephens.

Urgent and Important Information, Regarding City of Detroit 2015 Medical Open Enrollment, Sergeant Mark Young, President of the Detroit Police Lieutenants and Sergeants Association

If you wish to make changes to your medical, dental, life insurance or flexible spending plans, now is the time. The 2014 open enrollment period begins on Monday, November 10 and will continue through Friday, November 21, 2014.

Open Enrollment Package to be Mailed to Your Home

For your convenience, an employee open enrollment packet has been mailed to your home. This package includes the 2015 City of Detroit Health Care Plan Options booklet which provides eligibility requirements and summaries of the health care plans in a format that permits easy comparison; the contribution sheets for medical and dental insurance which provides the new contribution amounts that employees will be required to pay effective January 1, 2015. (Note: There are separate forms for the City’s medical Opt-Out Program. This form is not included in your packet. If wish to enroll in the City’s Opt-Out Program, please contact your department human resources office or the Benefits Administration Office for the applicable forms.)

REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE HEALTH CARE VENDORS WILL BE VISITING SELECTED WORK LOCATIONS – SEE ATTACHED SCHEDULE

Representatives from the City offered medical and dental plans will be visiting a number of work locations throughout the City to provide additional information and respond to your specific questions regarding health care benefits. Please see the attached schedule for dates, times and locations. Your supervisor’s approval is required to attend health care presentations during working hours.

SELLING AND BANKING OF FURLOUGH – WINTER DRAWING

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2014

 

DETROIT POLICE LIEUTENANTS AND SERGEANTS ASSOCIATION MEMBERS ONLY

 

The DPLSA’s Winter Furlough Drawing is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2014.  Pursuant to Article 38.H of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Detroit and the Detroit Police Lieutenants’ and Sergeants’ Association, members have the option of banking or selling one of their two furlough periods.  It is to be noted that the compensation will be at the minimum wages of their applicable rank, and exclusive of longevity payments and will not be included in the computation of the member’s average final compensation for pension purposes.

 

This option shall be exercised by submitting the designated Inter-Office Memorandum (DPD 734 – Request to Bank of Sell Furlough), which is available on the Department Intranet website (see Forms). This form must be submitted by the member at the time or prior to the furlough selection and shall be a full and complete waiver for that furlough period.

 

In addition, the Command is responsible for forwarding (hand carry) the memorandum to Police

Payroll no later than two (2) days after the furlough drawing, by 4:00 p.m.
